Our olive-oil

According to ancient myth the olive-tree was a gift to mankind from the Goddess Athene and that's supposedly why the olive tree ever since has been considered to be the tree of all trees, and its fruit, the olive, was soon to be seen as the fruit of the Gods. All around the coastlines of the Mediterranean there has been no other plant than the olive tree which over a period of thousands of years has given so much to the people and which therefore has been so adored by all nations. Wealth and prosperity depended upon it and it was considered a sign of luck and fertility and a symbol of peace for Christians and Jews alike.

The tree's precious product - the olive oil - was used in ancient days not only as an ingredient in culinary preparation but was also highly appreciated for cosmetic and medical purposes and was indispensable for cultic and religious ceremonies.
Olive oil - the Etruscan called it olio santo (holy oil) - is almost like a concentrate of the sun which, by beeing consumed, passes its life energy (in the true meaning of the word, since it's been obtained from pressing a fresh olive fruit) on to the human body. It is a delicious, very healthy and easily digestible natural product which refines every dish. Extra vergine olive oil gives a mediterranean touch to the cold or warm, frugal or sophisticated cuisine. And "mediterranean" is also synonymous with the joy of life!

For 15 years we have been producing on our farm in Southern Tuscany an excellent, high quality extra vergine olive oil. Because it's such a great and extremely healthy product it should actually be used every day (and not, due to exorbitant prices, only for special dishes and occasions) and therefore we have aimed to offer a really high quality extra vergine oil at a fair price. In order to be able to do so we deliver our extra vergine olive oil in 5-litre-cans directly from the producer (us) to the consumer (you) and thereby avoid intermediate trade and the cost of single-bottling and - above all - a "fancy cover"; because we presume that for our customers the product is more important than the packing.
